Staying offsite at Disney World

For our first trip, we really had zero perspective when it came to the “Disney Bubble.”  The savings and significant room difference was a factor for us and we decided to go for a condo off-site. For the price of this 3 bedroom/2 bath condo with a full kitchen, living room, and laundry, we couldn’t justify spending more just to be at a Disney hotel (…having experience in the bubble now has changed my mind on this). We rented the Mickey Farmhouse at Windsor Hills and loved our stay.

Pros

-LOTS more room than a standard disney resort room.

-Had the “disney feel” with decor

-Full kitchen was so nice to have

-Laundry came in handy

-Cost…a fraction of a Disney moderate/deluxe resort

Cons

-15-20 minutes from WDW

– Parking at MK was not ideal (when you drive to MK, you park at the TTC and take a boat or monorail to the park…it’s okay at the beginning of the day, but hard when everyone is tired at the end of the night)

-Having stayed in the bubble since this trip, it’s night/day difference…there really is something magical about staying IN the bubble.

Dits & Dots

-Leave early if you are staying off-site, as you can encounter traffic and it’s a little more time consuming getting into the parks (especially MK)

-If you are not planning a mid-day rest, consider renting a stroller from Kingdom Strollers or Scooterbug…highly recommend both.  This saved us, as we pretty much went to the parks open-close.

-Etsy has the cutest ears, shirts, accessories!  I loved coordinating our outfits and it made keeping track of each other in the parks a little easier and the pictures are adorable!

-Keep your expectations reasonable…plan 3-5 “musts” per park day and let the rest be bonuses. You cannot do it all, so enjoy what you do get to. A day at Disney is pretty awesome no matter what-enjoy!
